Occupants of untitled residential public lands can now file their applications for free patents at the nearest field office of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) having jurisdiction over their areas after Environment and Natural Resources Secretary Horacio C. Ramos approved the implementing rules and regulations (IRR) of the Free Patent Act on Residential Land or Republic Act No. 10023.

Beware of con men selling parcels of land with 'bogus' or fake documents," thus the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) warns the public anew against fraudulent selling of land titles.
This warning was issued in the wake of a decision issued by the Regional Trial Court of Muntinlupa City voiding the purchase of 1,740,551 square meters of land by Intercontinental Development Corporation (ICDC) which includes the Susana Heights Subdivision declaring it as "in bad faith" due to anomalies and irregularities found in the acquisition of a property covering three separate Transfer Certificates of Titles (TCTs).

Degree and non-degree courses in land administration and management (LAM), the first in the history of education in the country, will be pilot-tested at the graduate school of the Visayas State University (VSU) in Baybay City in Leyte next school year (2010-2011), the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) announced yesterday.DENR Secretary Lito Atienza said the pilot testing of the graduate programs in VSU is in preparation for the regular offering of the LAM degree and non-degree courses in other academic institutions to provide scientific knowledge and skills to students and help strengthen land administration and management in the country.
